With the success of Barcamp ASEAN 2018, which attracts 10,000 participants, 1,000 companies and institutions, 100 speakers and topics, the event was named The Biggest BarCamp in the world, surpassing Barcamp Yangon record in 2013. This year, Barcamp ASEAN 2019 is back with more excitement and engagement.
The most beloved and largest tech conference and community in Cambodia is officially announcing Barcamp ASEAN 2019. The event will be held on 12-13 Oct 2019 at The Institute of Technology of Cambodia.
BarCamp ASEAN 2019 aspires to lead the dialogue of tech development in Cambodia by imagining the future of digitalization: digital economy, digital citizenship and industry 4.0. As the world rapid change in tech landscape inspires new leaderships, combining with the growing trend in Cambodia on tech industry, Barcamp ASEAN 2019 wants to become the catalyst in shaping new digital landscape and community to promote both the country and its citizens.
For 2019, this free-and-open-for-all tech conference aims to bring together 10,000 participants, 100+ speakers, 50+ exhibitors, 100+ ASEAN tech and startups, and 100+ volunteers and partners to celebrate innovative mind and digital future. Throughout these 2-day event, attendees will be able to explore the event through a wide variety of activities such as breakout sessions, tech talks, panel discussions, startup and student showcase, and exhibitions.
The core activity, the breakout sessions, offers attendees numerous topics to choose from. Participants can freely engage in any topics, ranging from entry-level to professional, from business to software development, from tech to non-tech. This will ensure that event-goers will be able to fully experience the event to their fullest and liking. It is a good opportunity to connect people of all backgrounds from technology professional, enterprises, innovators, educators, developers, and students through an open space where they can create their own dialogue with other people who share the same passions. The 2-day space will helps them grow with new knowledge, networks, perspectives and skills.
This year, on the final day, there will be a program co-host by our long-time and main supporter, Smart Ataxia, aiming to bring together tech leaders in Cambodia to engage in a conversation around the digital future of the world and this country. SMART TechTalk will be held on Sunday 13 Oct 2019 from 2PM to 5PM at the same venue.
Leading up to this year’s event, the team work relentlessly to engage with both local and international partners to make Barcamp ASEAN 2019 happen, mainly thanks to the support from Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and Institute of Technology of Cambodia, main sponsored by Smart Axiata, co-sponsored by EZECOM, ABA, and TOTAL and contributed by KOOMPI with the partnership of National Institute of Posts, Telecoms & ICT (NIPTICT), Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), Open Institute, Cambodia Investment Club (CiC) and Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA).

BarCamp is a global community built of everyday people who come together to share their knowledge and passion. It’s for people who want to share, listen and learn from their peers in an energetic, fast paced co-learning environment.
Barcamp Cambodia is committed to work together with different organizations and businesses to create more impact in Cambodian society by sharing knowledge, creating a sharing space for innovators and help develop human resources in different fields. So far, the team has engaged 50K participants of which are students, professionals and entrepreneurs, 1K speakers, 20 universities and 2K companies and organizations.
This self and independently organized team had successfully organized BarCamp in Cambodia since 2008 in Phnom Penh, SihanoukVille, Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampot, Takeo, Kampong Cham, Banteay Meanchey, Ratanakiri and Steung Treng. Each year we have different themes such as “Tech & Innovation”, “Prepare for ASEAN”, “Tech & Tourism”, “Tech & Career Development”, “Promoting Tech & Startup throughout Cambodia.”, “Powering Your Future”. 2019’s theme will be “Together Towards Digital Future”.
About the team
We, at BarCamp Cambodia, are both organizers and participants in the making of startup movement and sharing spirit in tech and business. The purpose of our existence is to share and showcase the awesome spark of creation in every entrepreneur and changemaker in Cambodia.
A team of more than 100 organizers and volunteers work together to organize BarCamp in different parts of Cambodia.
